"I've pushed all the buttons," said Rhodin's voice, with confidence, through the black rectangle. The Lord Magus of Ysthar had given a set of them to Cliopher with instructions, and Cliopher had passed both the rectangles and the instructions on.

They were fascinating devices, Ludvic had to admit. He presumed that they were much, much more functional than the rudimentary instructions the five of them had been given, given that everyone on Ysthar seemed to spend an awful lot of time staring at them and tapping on them in baffling ways.

"Did the buttons do anything?" Ludvic asked into his rectangle.

"One turns the picture on and off, and the other two make it louder or softer," Rhodin said, "All the other things you have to turn on the picture and then press the picture. I got mine to take still pictures. If you can figure out how to see them, I sent you some. You should look at them in the bedroom."

"Rhodin," Ludvic growled, but Rhodin purred through the rectangle at him.

"One could use the rectangle to the same effect as a salacious letter, only now you can hear how breathy my voice is," Rhodin said, "I can finally impress to you exactly how I sound when I underline 'fuck me' three times."
