Does Prison Wash ever try to contact Alex from prison? is Alex aware of the empire he's building in there? if he is, does he wish he wasn't or is he keeping an eye on the danger?
1. I think Alex’s goal is to never see, hear, speak, think of, or consider Washington after again in HEA. As far as he’s concerned, Washington is a closed chapter in his book.
2. I think if you asked Alex, “What do you think Washington is doing in prison?” (and he didn’t slam the door in your face), he would, without missing a beat, say “Oh, he’s going to create a prison gang army.” He could very concisely and quite accurately imagine Washington’s goings-on. “he’ll need some second-in-command. A me, if you will. Probably someone a little crazy. Unafraid to do shit. For one reason or another, obsessed with him, or easily manipulated to do so.. He’ll start slow, you know, thing here, then there. But one day he’s going to just wake up and murder all his enemies. And you know being his crony isn’t bad. Probably good benefits in prison. He’ll get them soap and shit.”
3. Alex is no longer a useful resource to Washington, and it doesn’t seem likely to Washington Alex would help him out with prison things, so he wouldn’t contact him, no. One of the most important things about Ironflint Washington (and defines him in many ways as LE), is that he vastly prefers not to act on spite. Above all he’s pragmatic and calculating. Spite is a waste of energy.
4. While Alex and Washington’s parting is far from amicable, I think they part as enemies respectful as one another. Washington knows that if Alex wanted, he could bring down hell. And maybe Alex would be (literally or figuratively) killed in the process, but if he wanted to, Washington knows how irritating (at the last) Alex can be.
But on the other side, if Washington wanted to wreck Alex’s life, it wouldn’t be that hard for him. I mean, no one had his finger on Alex’s ticks like Washington did, and if Washington really wanted to fuck his day up, SSRIs or no SSRIs, he could do it if he put his mind to it, from prison or otherwise.
So I think that Alex knows Washington is probably getting into trouble in prison, but, but Alex also knows that he could do some serious damage to Washington (and Washington knows that), so he’s safe as long as he doesn’t go after Washington. They have that uneasy truce of two enemies who know the other one will do serious damage, even if they won.
