i really love these tyrant-aus. is laurens hiding behind a corner somewhere, or is he not a factor in this at all?

i feel a little bad for john laurens who got shoved into the corner of my mind and only appears as an afterthought to all of my other good ideas. my hypthoesis on this is a) some kind of reaction to many lams people being the sort of people that they are and also b) he doesn’t think g. washington is his daddy

THAT BEING SAID at present it seems OBVIOUS to me now that j. laurens is the general’s right-hand murdering rebel. henry laurens is a landowner-statesman (although ‘statesman’ is comical because his body of government has absolutely zero power and what they do is ‘recommend’ suggestios to his excellency on pieces of paper that he never reads, but you’d be surprised how much dissent a body of govt can stop), and he knows that his boy is definitely up to SOMETHING, but he is seriously scared that if he finds out he’ll be in deep shit becuase he is not reporting on his own son, and so he pretends that he can just tell himself that him not knowing where john is most of the time is totally okay and he’s definitely just carrousing with the other rich statemen’s kids (even though he obviously isn’t).

instead of course he smears charcoal on his face so no one can tell who he is and murders allies of the king in their beds. he meets with the general every so often and the general occasionally gives him a target but most of the time it’s the people he meets at these events to talk about how cool the king is, and the people who like the king or talk about how cool it is that he’s a fucking emperor go on john’s shitlist, and then a couple of weeks he breaks into their houses and cuts their throats.

once john was accused of being a rebel at one of these events but he was like “don’t you think that i would be the least bit nervous about that accuation because the marquis is right there?” (gestures up dais to where the marquis and the king are talking) “but instead i’m right here drinking punch and taking bets on which eyeball the marquis is gonna take out of that shithead general first.”

and they’re like “probably true”

and then when one of them is really drunk john takes him down to the wine cellar and bricks him in a corner against the wall and this person take a nice walk outside and then john drowns him in the river and is like ‘actually you were totally right, which is why someone will find your bloating corpse in the ocean in a few weeks.”
