ironflint question!! Does Alex blow his pay check the second he gets it? Does he save? Does he buy horrendously expensive suits to prove to himself he's moved past his upbringing? I must know! (Only if you aren't too busy and would like to answer my question ofc)
ironflint alex is the most awful financial human EVER. he does have a bank account so he could get a credit card and have good credit, and i imagine he was frugal for a little while because he was so poor, and then there’s this space in his life where was living reasonably… but like all things, he totally blew right fucking past it and into irresponsible spending. and when we meet alex when he’s a ??? (regional manager?), he’s probably spending irresponsibly but saving just enough so his credit cards aren’t bouncing. basically he’s probably being really irresonsponsible with food and drink and drugs, but he isn’t getting all other things. like he isn’t buying new clothes and stuff.
But.
but he probably got a pretty significant bump in pay to become washington’s EA and then he like… really spends irresponsibly, both on his card but also on the company card, because he understands how tax write-offs work. buys really, really nice suits and only wears the one-step-under-washington ones when he’s working. gets like a super super expensive watch. or a couple, really. really fancy liquor. buy also he buys like the best seat you can buy for literally any event you can think of. like usually he can get the connection to the tickets, but they won’t just GIVE him the tickets because he isn’t washington. so he has to pay top dollar for them.
i think his top expense is probably liquor, followed by clothes or other significant items of status or visible accessories (like bags, pens, watches, shoes, tie clips/cufflinks, etc).
i think washingotn probably sets him up a 401k with max matching (maybe something super generous becuase that’s a big employement perk, like 12% one year vest?). becuase he knows there’s no way alex is saving for retirement and the last thing he needs is 60 year old alex being poor and selling his memoirs.
