Quick ironflint question if you have time: In canon/real life Alex was pissy bc Washington wouldn't give him a command. In ironflint does Alex ever want a promotion/higher position that gwash isn't gonna give him bc Alex is too valuable or for other reasons? Or is Alex fine with his current job

quick ironflint answer: alex DOES want to be an executive VP or otherwise not washington’s assistant, even though as washington’s EA he probably has more power than a lot of these other folk. (like in canon/real life), and i’m sure he brought the thing up to washington repeatedly, but he was s completely dismissed every time. l

longer ironflint answer: in canon/real life. and there isn’t, at least where we are in current ironflint cannon, something that happens that basically changes washington’s mind that says “ok, i’ll give him this posistion/command.” and i think that sort of catalyzing action is possible, but also less likely.

would alex quit in frustration because washington wouldn’t give him the exec vp job and thus sort of lead to him getting it?

i think that’s a harder question to answer. on one hand, he is impulsive and shitty and while he’s not, uh, the best at saving, he probably would have some money to burn through while he pouted the whole time. and obviously he knows washington knows how valuable he is and how much he knows about the company. and there’s an interesting discussion to be had on “would alex quit and spite-tattle on washington to one of his enemies?” obviously canon aham this is out, but ironflint hamilton might go that far, i don’t know.

the real issue is there’s this sexual dynamic to their ironflint relationship, right? like alex might be pissed that GW uses him like he does as an EA and won’t give him a raise, but alex stays around becuase GW perfectly satisfies his deranged sex needs. and those circumstances might be different if he spite-quit.

and like, alex doesn’t think GW could turn him down as an exec VP, but GW WOULD refuse to hang out with him in the ways that alex being his EA are acceptable (such as alex going on vacation with him). and alex really likes going on vacation with GW, or being in his limo, or meandering into his apartment, stuff like that. so that’s really the big wrench.
