I'm so happy I sent you into this spiral because a) this is the most adorable thing ever, I'm a sucker for older!Washilton, tell me moar; b) Washington letting his hair down! (Not.)
this actually got me thinking about them sleeping together. becuase a) they both suffer from terrible dreams and wake up in the middle of the night b) they have hugely disparate sleeping hours (alex likes to work until he passes out and washington is highly routine) and alex is definitely a blanket stealer.
so i’m thinking they don’t sleep together all the time. they definitely do sometimes, but i think they also probably have seperate beds too. sorry, that’s completely unrelated to your ask.
the reason why i started thinking down this line is becuase - so lafayette shows up to dress him in the morning every day at the same time, right? but if alex is in that bed, alex is not letting washington get out of the bed. george is trying to unwriggle from him but alex is NOT letting go and so eventually washington just has to admit defeat. “come back in an hour,” he says. alex makes victorious noise and wiggles them together and goes back to sleep on him.
but i think a lot of washingotn’s hair-uppery is internal so the things that do change are small. like instead of addressing his letters with a person’s full tile he would just be like “dear martha,” and that’s noticed. or like, it’s hard for him to go and down the steps from the study to his library so he spends a lot more time in the library (obviously he has to go down the steps for breakfast).
