M or H for Greenhouse!Alex and Laf, please?
let’s do: M.
Lafayette was soaked to the soul by the time he finally made it into the manor. There was a fearsome storm going on, and his poor horse had suffered but not bolted at the lightning, and he had duties that needed to be completed, and then the clouds had snuck up on him like dust in corners. And despite his pleads to wait, they had opened completely on him. As a result, he was soaked and shivering.
“Oh, dear,” Hamilton said, smirking. He was looking very warm and dry, and quite comfortable in a very large armchair and in front of a very nice fire. “Have you been swept in by a tidal wave?”
Lafayette bit back the glare and the sharp word that held in his stomach. He bowed his head in greeting, then took off the soaked jacket and gave it to another man. “My responsibilities, unfortunately, do not disappear and resume when the weather is better,” he said. “Unless you would prefer to stop eating livestock until the sun comes out.”
“I think no livestock will suffice, as you are clearly ready to jump into the sea for fish,” Hamilton retorted, dryly.
“I shall return upon a sea monster, sir.” A beat. “Can I assist you in some manner, further? If not, I am going to redress.”
Hamilton studied him for a moment; they both knew, of course, that Hamilton could keep him here, dripping and shivering, if he wanted. At least the fire was beginning to heat his fingers and toes. But.
“You may go, sea king.”
