Greenhouse Alex and George not being able to get enough of each other once they finally do the do.
washington can never remember being obsessed, although it seems a thing he must have been over something at some time. but the force of it is new and unusual, intense and overwhelming. he is of course a man of discipline and consideration, and yet even so his thoughts are consumed and driven. even in the highest days of the war his mind never felt like this, so single-tracked, like a road surrounded by hedges.
he would refer to this behavior as uncouth and terrible, and yet he can hardly stop himself. it is only that hamilton’s bare body is like some sort of drug, like opium or alcohol and it has hooked directly into his brain. it is only that hamilton does not deny his touch, but instead warms to him like a blooming flower. hamilton demands him the way he wants the man. they wake, him first, and hamilton at him movement, and twist their bodies together, and washingon is able, for the first time in fifteen years, to go back to sleep. they wake again and hamilton presses himself against washington’s body. they lie and kiss for hours, slothful when they should be working. they manage, eventually, to separate.
but he is captivated by hamilton midrant, or mid-essay, or mid-dinner; hamilton desires him after a ride, or covered in greenhouse dirt, or post-military meeting. they should manage something after dinner, but some days hamilton tugs him back into their bed and they notice, only distantly, that the candles are occasionally refreshed.
