idk if you're still taking greenhouse asks (i was busy with work/social stuff earlier but omg at your fills!!! AGH) but i was wondering: George gets sick, or hurt, and Hamilton worries/fusses/wants to tend to him but wants to play off how upset/worrried he actually is (and then maybe gives in idk. i just feel he wouldn't be one to outright fawn over someone in that position)
washington was moving even slower than usual, hamilton noticed. his steps were deliberate and paced, and something about his body was sluggish; he looked different, in some way, that hamilton took some time to consider. washington barely touched his breakfast and went back to his study, rather than going to the greenhouse. peculiar. hamilton looked up at lafayette, who was following washington’s back with restrained, but evident concern - lafayette was usually concerned over nothing, but it was a decent lead.
“lafayette, will you have the kitchen prepare the general some broth, and bring it to him?” hamilton asked. lafayette looked at him, briefly surprised, and nodded, and disappeared. hamilton put down his napkin and ate the rest of his biscuit and hurried up the steps to where his husband usually wrote. but instead he found the man in bed.
alarming.
“how are you supposed to be accomplished lying there?” hamilton asked, arranging the blankets more closely around the man’s form. washington sighed at him, and hamilton went to close the shades, so it was not so bright. he ruffled through the drawers until he found a cloth and a basin of water, pressing the cool towel to the man’s forehead.
“there,” he said, and sat himself next to the bed, “i have had lafayette make you some broth. you can hardly be permitted to waste away.”
