I am a yankees fan, and I refer to them as the bosox and the chisox fairly regularly. also, fuck boston, and also, fuck the red sox. this, of course, is a side story to the real point, which is, alexander hamilton is definitely probably a yankees fan. i could also see him being a mets fan for a few reasons, but mostly for the explicit purpose of pissing jefferson off, who is a shitass posada-hating, if-the-boss-were-alive-memeing, steroid-booing yankees fan.

anyway, it got really long so i’m putting all my reason for these points under a read more because i hate long posts. i have zero idea how many of you care about this.

i’m curious to hear more about why ham would NOT be a yankees fan.

i mean, the yankees embody new york city (and america) in a way that hamilton would love:

1. they think they’re better then everyone else (which is true, by the way)- an opinion which alexander hamilton was certainly very good at, but also

2. they are the united states monarchy of wonderful perfect baseballl, and “united states monarchy” is perfect for our bank-creating, federalist-supporting, tory-defending big-government-loving friend

3. the yankees are a quintessentially AMERICAN thing and one of the best-known american brands and logos in the world - a quick way for someone who’s desperate to assimilate to fall into ny culture.

i also think that hamilton would be against being a red sox fan for two deeper reasons, although i am certainly willing to be debated on these things:

1. he would not be into a team that has such a long-term racist history. the bosox were the last team to integrate among other things; you can read a great overview of this at Over The Monster, a rad bosox blog. please note here: I am not saying the yankees are not racist, or that the yankees are perfect - only that the yankees are slightly less racist. there’s a great joel sherman tweet about this but i can’t find it.

2. hamilton would be against vicious smear campaigns that boston is known for. anyone who tells me that boston does not run a smear campaign for the ages can step on a lego. let’s talk about JD Drew. Let’s talk about Chicken&Beer. lets talk about this forever-fucking-attack on pablo sandoval. again: it is not that yankees do not run smear campaigns, only they don’t do what boston does.

on burr and baseball

burr would also be a yankees fan, but burr would be a yankees fan in the “i’m a fan of any team that plays in new york” kind of way, so burr would really be a yankees AND and a mets fan. but i don’t really think that he would…. i don’t know…. be into it? i mean, i think burr’s general distance from taking a stand would not make him an ideal sports person. sports people LOVE pointlessly hot takes, dumb shit, making something out of nothing, drawing attention to themselves - all very unburr-things. upon any serious event happening (big injuries, big call ups, big comebacks, big blown games) his answer would always be “It’s a long season, and these kind of things even out.”

i don’t really buy that burr would be into the bos/nyy rivalrly, becuase he wouldn’t draw attention to himself. if he did have to watch a bos/nyy game in a bos bar, he would take his yankees hat off, sit at the corner of the bar, and not cheer too loudly when a-rod hit a dinger.

the mets?

now that i’m thinking about this about this, i can definitely see the interesting unfolding of Alexander Hamilton The Mets Fan. This is a result of two things about the Mets and Mets Fan:

1) Mets Fans are literally One Giant Complex and are generally speaking completely neurotic about baseball and misery, and somehow a man that has plenty of issue and his own “little brother” complex in comparison to plenty of the other american-born, rich, long-time-standing characters makes perfect sense to me

2) the Mets are the USA to NYY’s Great Britain. You could make a MUCH longer analogy about how the 2015 Mets are SO COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY the American Revolution that it’s almost comical: here they are, YOUNG, SCRAPPY AND HUNGRY, and Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, Wilmer Flores are not throwing away their shot. SEE ALSO: YOENIS CESPEDES AS THE FRENCH, and DANIEL MURPHY as THE COMTE DE ROCHAMBEAU and/or Admiral De Grasse. Does this make Jenrry Meijia Benedict Arnold? And Terry Collins as Henry Laurens? And Lucas Duda as? Anyway, besides the point.

3) the Mets can do NOTHING on a small scale. They either fail or succeed on an apocalyptic level. usually they fail (please see literally anything the Mets have ever done) but occasionally they succeed at a painfully impressive (the 86′ Amazins, for example).

4) most important, Hamilton would be a Mets fan just to piss off Thomas Jefferson the Yankees Fan. (Thomas Jefferson could also be a Braves fan, a team so racist they are leaving a nice, downtown accessible ballpark for one closer to White People With Cars). Thomas Jefferson would be THE WORST FUCKING YANKEES FAN. i am a yankees fan and i know the kind of yankees fan thomas jefferson would be and I DESPITE THAT HUMAN. he would be that guy yankees fans hate. a posada-hating, arod-booing, pineda-fat-jokes if-the-boss-were-alive memeing fucktard. Alexander Hamilton would pretend to like the Mets JUST to offend thomas jefferson.

also as lizdexia added: ham would be a yankees fan because ham likes winning.
