I love the way your face lights up when someone says, “It might be dangerous.” (I am glad we are friends.)

It was, Jullanar considered, another extraordinarily beautiful day in the Vangavay-ve. It was always very warm here, a little warmer than she would have preferred, if she was honest, but the houses were all designed to be airy, and Fitzroy had added some charms to the patio of what they all called “The Company House,” - the second house which Kip had traded his boat for - and as a result it was comfortable to sit outside even in the hottest hours of the day and observe the goings and comings of both houses.

On this particular day she watched an enormous black bird - larger than Fitzroy, when he decided to be a bird - land in front of the other house and walk inside in some hurry.

Jullanar knew an adventure coming to meet them, face-first, when she saw one.

She sat, folded her hands in her lap, and waited.

On cue Fitzroy appeared out the house, followed by Kip and his retired guards, Ludvic and Rhodin, along with a stringy man with ragged dark hair and a long black cloak who was obviously the giant bird. The five of him came directly over to her, and Fitzroy opened his mouth, and Rhodin was just grinning, ear to ear, in his eccentric way.

“Can I at least check to see what’s in my backpack, or do we have to go now?” she asked the group, before Fitzroy could speak, then her friend gathered himself and shook his head, smiling at her.

“See,” Rhodin said, “We have very significant adventuring energy right now.”

“Well, at least now our party is a little more complete,” Fitzroy said, and she took his hand that pulled her to her feet, “And we’re not ready to go just now, but probably soon.”

“Well, I’d best pack and alert everyone else,” she said, kissing him on the cheek.
