ooh, followup question (from a different anon)! what would hamilton's perfect day w/ washington be like?

harder question to ask, becuase the thing hamilton likes most about washington is that washington looks directly at him and sees him and listens to him and thinks of him as a PERSON. hamilton is much more used to handling relationships with other people as transactional manipulation events that occasionally grow feelings (angelica schuyler being a key one here). even with john, there’s a lot of push-pull based on the things both of them want and the events that stop them from getting there. his relationship with eliza schuyler is closer to his relationship with washington. and eliza doesn’t have the complete steadfastness and insane paitience with him like washington does.

but it’s tangled up with this fact that hamilton knows washington will without question do things that he doesn’t like for the purposes of appearances or for the sake of other people, so hamilton would always be checking back to make sure washington was still actually interested. another example of this is that hamilton knows that washington’ doesn’t acutally like talking to any of his enemies, but hamilton just LOVES watching washington put people in their place. so he knows washington doesn’t really enjoy the process but it looks so good.

oh wait, i thought of something.

so maybe something like:

-wake up

-bang

-breakfast w/ discussion

-riding where he wins their racing (this is rare even if he and the horse are both younger)

-lunch

-tending plants with washington literally for the whole afternoon because the way washington gets about his plants makes hamilton’s heart melt in terrible puddles into his shoes. like hamilton never thought there would be a place where he didn’t want to be the center of attention but if it’s a really busy plant day sometimes washington will forget he’s there and start talking to his plants and rubbing their leaves and calling them affectionately by their names and the spilling out affection is almost too much for hamilton to deal with.

-cuddling where he pretends not to like it but washington humors him
