Loved your last Greenhouses response! I snorted when Washington was like, "Well, we can't publicly state he's my husband. He's too mean." Just.... wow.

it’s not JUST that he’s too mean! it’s that he’s too mean AND he can’t keep his freaking trap shut. Acutally it’s super helpful for Washington for Hamilton to be the asshole he can never be! And now Hamilton isn’t TECHNICALLY connected to hiM! so you know he could definitely TELL hamilton to keep it to himself but of course, hamilton is RESPECTABLE GENERAL WHO REPRESENTS HIMSELF so he can… do whatever he wants! of course!!! it just so HAPPENS that hamilton is the sword and washington is the bullwark!

but it is also really important that hamilton is allowed to distinguish himself outside of Washington’s shadow, because Hamilton doesn’t want his heroisms, etc, to be ascribed to washington, which would happen!

anyway it all sort of makes sense. even if poor wolcott needs a few good drinks to wrap his head around it.
